According to Wikipedia, “Meditation is a practice in which an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness, or focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.”
According to Jon Kabat-Zinn, professor emeritus of medicine and the creator of the Stress Reduction Clinic and Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, meditation is defined as “the systematic cultivation of wakefulness of that present moment.”
There is no getting around your thoughts and feelings. You have to sit with everything: your fear, worries, your to-do list.
