Water Intake

How much water should you drink a day? You probably know that it is important to drink plenty of fluids when the temperatures climb, but staying hydrated is something you need to do every single day, no matter what the thermometer says. Unfortunately, many of us simply don’t drink enough water, and that turns out to be a problem that can affect your body and your health on many levels.

Our body, including our brain, is made up of 70% water, so you can just imagine the value of keeping your water intake high enough to work in your favor.

According to Harvard Medical School experts, water intake plays a huge role in health and wellness. Below are just a few of the myriad benefits you can expect when you drink enough water.

– Reduces anxiety and depression

– Has calming properties on the body and brain

– Your cells get plenty of oxygen and nutrients

– Germs get flushed more quickly and readily from your system

– Digestion improves – Constipation disappears

– Blood pressure and heartbeat stabilize

– Joints become better cushioned

– Organs are more protected

– Body temperature and electrolyte balance are more easily regulated

If you do not drink enough water each day, you take the risk of becoming dehydrated. Warning signs of dehydration include weakness, low blood pressure, dizziness, confusion, or urine that is dark in color. If this pattern continues, you definitely put your life and health in jeopardy. Don’t let that happen! It is so easy to grab a glass, fill it up and down it. Why take chances?

So how much water should you drink each day? The general rule is 6 to 8 full glasses (240 ml glass) for a healthy adult, but some people may need to adjust for size and circumstances, and certainly more will be needed if you exercise a lot. The point is to ensure that you give your body and mind every possible opportunity to operate at its best, and taking in enough water each day is an easy and inexpensive way of purchasing that kind of insurance.

Start the water drinking habit today. The benefit will only multiply with time! The App will remind every 2 hours to do so.
