Priorities

Priorities

August 06, 20232 min read

Sometimes our priorities get skewed without us even realizing it. We get caught up in all the minutia, all the small but “loud” things in our lives that we forget the important things sometimes. It is important to, on a regular basis, step back and make sure we prioritize what really matters to us.

Living with intent requires us to prioritize what does truly matters. Taking the time to identify our core values and align our actions accordingly will help us figure out what our priorities should be. When we learn to say “no” to distractions that don’t serve our purpose, and focus our time & energy on the activities/relationships that bring us closer to our goals, we can start to see real momentum in our lives.

Being aware of these priorities can look different depending on how we choose to focus.

Sometimes taking this step back is referred to as mindfulness.

Mindfulness is a powerful tool to help us live our lives with intent. When we are fully present in each moment, we can create a deep awareness of our thoughts, emotions, and what we are doing. Mindfulness allows us to make conscious choices instead of being driven by the autopilot that we sometimes let take over. When we add a mindfulness practices into our daily routine, like meditation, deep breathing exercises, or mindful eating we can develop more clarity, focus, and intention to our everyday experiences. There are a couple sections of this app that can help with that.

In order to see this improvement in our lives, once we are aware of our misdirected focus, it is vital to take action.

Living with intent and choosing our priorities is not simply about setting goals and having a clear vision, it’s also about taking deliberate action. When we do this, we can break it down into actionable steps so we know the exact next one to take towards improving our lives. Taking consistent, purposeful actions in the direction of our ultimate priorities, even if they are small become exponential after a while. They definitely add up!

As each intentional step brings us closer to living a more fulfilling life, whether we feel like we are making progress or not, we should celebrate along the way that we are getting just that bit closer.
